In this tutorial I show you how modeling a fence column in easy way/. I use blueprint for refrence, then create column with line and lathe modifier. Then make top and bottom part with box and little changes on vertexes and edges (chamfer). Then convert the column to Editable Poly and used Slice Plane, Bevel and symmetry to finlize it.

At the end of the video, I showed some example that use similar modeling way so you can find how can use it in big projects.
